A native of Georgia and resident of Delano for the past 54 years, he was a son of the late Robert West. He was a member of Wetmore Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie, Jimmy and Richard West; and two sisters, Roxie Waldrop and Ella West.

Survivors include his wife, Belvy West of Delano; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Pamela West of Delano, and Herb and Leslie West of Etowah; 4 grandchildren, Justin, Matthew, D.J., and Emily West; 4 sisters, Sallie West, Annie Long, Liddy Patterson and Martha West, all of Georgia; two brothers, Bill West of Georgia and Bud West of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in the South Chapel with Chaplain Ronnie Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Delano Cemetery. Randal West, Herb West, Matthew West, Dale West, Justin West and Robert Shelton will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 27th in the South Chapel.
