Obituary

Alice Faye Watson, 79, a native and lifelong resident of Etowah, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Woods Memorial Hospital. A daughter of the late James Jesse Sr. and Abby Faye Barclay, she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Watson; and one brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Flora Mae "Toot" Barclay. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joyce Watson of Riceville, and David and Julie Watson of Huntsville, Ala.; one daughter and son-in-law, Shea and Phil Johnson of Atmore, Ala.; four grandsons and two spouses, Matthew and Amber Watson, Jeremiah and Amanda Watson, Jonathan Watson and Daniel Johnson; one granddaughter, Ellen Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Watson and James Michael Watson; one sister-in-law, Betty Watson of Etowah; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jesse and Mary Barclay of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be noon Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Crandall officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, P.O. Box 631047, Baltimore, MD 21263-1047; or the American Lung Association, One Vantage Way, Ste. D-220, Nashville, TN 37228.
