Alma Lee Martin Whitener age 78 of Etowah, TN passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Virgil Martin and Gussie Derrick Martin. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Whitener, 4 brothers David, Spencer, Charlie, and Lewis Danny Martin, and 4 sisters Ruth Gay, Louzelle Maxwell, Hazel Martin, and Margaret Martin.

She was survived by her brother William Ross Martin, daughters and sons-in-law Gloria Whitener, Jeanette and Robin Hayes, Sharon and Donald Gates, son and daughter-in-law James and Jeanette Whitener, and grandchildren Holly Hayes and Riley Gates.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2015 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Rev. Doyle Lloyd will officiate. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m., August 18, 2015 and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 10:00 a.m., committal service.

The family would like to thank all friends and family for helping take care of Alma.
