Alvin Edmond Shugart, 88, of Etowah, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home. He was a veteran ofWWII and the son of the late Elmer Earl Shugart. Preceded in death by 3 sisters, Juanita and husband Ralph Bancroft, JoAnn Davenport and Jerry Lawson; and niece, Jamie Robison.

Survivors include 1 sister, Jewell Copeland; nieces, spouses and children, Debbie and Sam Helms and their son, Tanner Helms, daughter, Alyssa and her husband Ryan, Al Robison "married to the late Jamie Robison" and daughter, Hailey Robison; nephews, spouses and children, Craig and Sharon Irby and daughter, Hannah, Phil Copeland, Jim and Tina Copeland and children, Matt and wife, Chrissi Copeland and Kris Copeland.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Eldridge Cullum officiating. Family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm., prior to the service. Interment will follow service in Etowah Cemetery.Phil, Jim and Matt Copeland, Craig Irby, Ryan Helms and Mike Harrell will serve as pallbearers.
