Andrew Austin "Andy" Harbison, 82, of Benton, TN, passed away Saturday, July 2,2011 at hisresidence.He was a native of GA and a lifelong resident of Polk County. He was a member of Wetmore Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He graduated from Polk County High School, Tennessee Wesleyan and U.T. Knoxville. He retired from the Polk County School System in 1989 and had served in Etowah City as a Teacher, Principal and Superintendant from 1957 thru 1976. He was a son of the late John Wesley and Jessie Irene Gates Harbison. Preceded in death by his 1st wife, Virginia; 2nd wife, Ruby; parents, listed above; one brother, George Thomas Harbison and one sister, Frances Eaves. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Rick Barnett of Englewood, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Lisa Harbison of Delano, TN; 4 grandchildren, Caleb and Jennifer Harbison of Etowah, TN, Joshua Harbison and Amber Hardin of Cleveland, TN; Sara and Todd Watson of Athens, TN and Robert Barnett of Englewood, TN; 4 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Meg and Bay Harbison and Sofia Watson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Wetmore Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Earl officiating The body will lie in-state one hour prior to the service.. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral. The interment will follow funeral service at Brock Cemetery at Mountain View Church. Don Bradford, Tim Carter, Ronnie Harbison, Steve Harbison, Chris Harbison and Tony Barnett will serve as pallbearers. Jason Qualls and Rusty Harbison will serve as honorary pallbearers.
