Arland Easley Burger, 84, of Englewood, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at Etowah Health Care Center. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Earl Eugene and Mary Johnson Burger. He retired from Oak Ridge after 25 years of service, and was employed by Johns Manville for 10 years. He was a member of Englewood Christian Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Arzada Elizabeth Bridges Burger; two brothers, Lamuel and Voyd "Bunt" Burger; one sister, Carine McConkey; and a brother-in-law, Roy Lynn Bridges. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Josie Burger, Catherine and Sherman Casteel, and Martha and Charles Gowin, all of Englewood; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Arlene Burger of Cleveland; two sisters-in-law, Rose Ann Teague, and Wilma Bridges; and a special friend, Jane Ballew. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 in the South Chapel with Minister Ron Blevins and Minister David Caffee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26th for the committal service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
