Arlene Jones, 81, of Athens, TN passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Arlene was a proud military wife and exhibited a strong sense of patriotism. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Athens. Arlene had a generous and caring nature, which was shown through her love for baking treats, as she would have them ready for anyone who walked through her doors. She loved all of her family, especially her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family when everyone was gathered.

She is preceded in death by her husband, MSGT John W. Jones; parents, Arthur and Marguerite Newman; daughter, Tammy Matthews; infant grandson, Aaron Matthews; beloved fur companion, Kristy; four sisters.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Rodney Davis; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Beth Jones, Johnny and Konnie Jones; grandchildren and spouses, Loni and Brady Harris, Alexis and Darian Sams, Courtney Matthews and Austin, Joshua Matthews, Jarron Jones and Shea, Sarah Jones; great-grandchildren, Tucker Harris, Mavrik Harris, and Penelope Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Pat Newman; sister, Bernice Boland; an abundance of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Cardin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Athens with Father Doug Klein officiating.

Family and friends will assemble at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Monday, May 12th for the 1:30 p.m. committal service.
