Obituary

Arnold Lee Coleman, 94, of Etowah, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

He was reunited with the love of his life, his loving wife Frances. They were married for 68 years, and only separated by death for 20 days and will now be forever together with Jesus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix P. Coleman and Elva Humphrey Coleman; brothers, John Curtis Coleman, J.L. Coleman, Joe Coleman, and Carl Coleman; sisters, Ada Coleman Massingale, and Ella Mae Coleman Casteel.

Survivors include his children and spouses, Larry Coleman and wife, Mary Ann, Rebecca Coleman Penney and husband, John, Alice Coleman Boles and husband, Willis, Wilma Coleman Proffitt and husband, Jim; granddaughters and spouses, Ashley Burchfield and husband, Cody, Diana Proffitt Short and husband, Zach, Kate Proffitt Hamilton and husband, Tanner, and Grace Proffitt; great-granddaughter, Emory Short; brother, Paul Coleman; sister, Pauline Coleman Gonzales; many nieces and nephews.

He retired from Athens Stove Works after 47 years, and returned to working on his farm. He was a deacon of Conasauga Baptist Church for 60 years, where he also served as the song leader of the choir.

The family would like to thank two of his caregivers, Brenda Curry and Paula Strickland for the excellent care they gave to him; and also extend many thanks to the employees of Avalon Hospice, Knoxville for their excellent care and attention.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5th, in Mars Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Best officiating.

No formal visitation will be held.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be given in his memory to, Conasauga Baptist Church,  c/o Susan Coleman, Treasurer, 423 County Road 876, Englewood TN 37329.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
