Azel Harl Torbett, 84, of Etowah, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at his residence. He was a member of Dixon Ave. Baptist Church, Englewood, TN and of the Manila Masonic Lodge # 633. A son of the late Willie and Lizzie Croft Torbett, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Torbett; parents, listed above; one great-grandchild; brother, James Torbett; two sisters, Ola M. Martin and Reba Land; and one son-in-law, Melvin Young. Survivors include children and spouses, Brenda Young, Englewood, TN; Charlotte and Doug Rule of Etowah, TN, Sandy and Joe Mason of Athens, TN, Yulonda and Doyle Cain of Etowah, TN, Jan and Johnny Hawn of Athens, TN, and Scott Torbett and Danielle Lanning of Englewood, TN; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Greely and Ruth Torbett of Englewood, TN, Bob and Jane Torbett of Cleveland, TN and Charlie and Dianne Torbett of Englewood, TN; sisters, Audrey Mitchell of Cleveland, TN, Anne Garrett of Cleveland, TN Nadine Roberts of Englewood, TN, Della White of Cleveland, TN and Sue McInturff of Englewood, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Stan and Edith Young of Etowah, TN, Jeremy and Carol Young of Athens, TN, Lee and Lisa Rule of Etowah, TN, Dustin and Shannon Rule of Etowah, TN, Josh Rule of Etowah, TN, Casey and Audrey Mason of Athens, TN, Heath and Tracie Mason of Dunlap, TN, Crockett and Lori Shamblin of Athens, TN, Drew and Cayci Hawn of Etowah, TN, Seth and Angie Hawn of Etowah, TN, Nathan Torbett of Madisonville, TN, Jennifer Nunley of Rodgers Creek, TN, Lacy Torbett of Englewood, TN, Mayzie Torbett of Englewood, TN, and Sayge Torbett of Englewood, TN; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Watson officiating. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens, Monday, August 1, 2011 for the 11a.m. committal service. Grandsons, Lee, Dusty, Josh, Stan, Jeremy, Casey, Heath, Crockett, Drew, Seth and Nathan will serve as pallbearers.
