B. Dale Tallent, 65, of Etowah, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. A native and lifelong resident of Etowah, he was retired from Bowater. He was a member of Brookhill Baptist Church and was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. A son of the late Burkett and Eola Tallent, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Dicey Brown and Harvey Sr. and Maggie Tallent. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lana Tallent of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and James Cherry of Etowah; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Milli Tallent of Etowah, Chris and Jessica Tallent of Benton, and Mark and Deanna Williams of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Lukas and Logan Tallent, Hayden and Hannah Cherry, Madelyn and Christian Tallent and Brittany and Brady Williams; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Venita and Stan Davis of Benton, Edith and Joe Coleman of Etowah, Gloria and Jerry Trew of Benton, and Barbara and Joe Houchens of Bowling Green, Ky.; four sisters-in-law and their spouses; three brothers-in-law and their spouses; and an uncle and aunt, Harvey Tallent Jr. and Geneva Tallent, both of Etowah. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Bowlin and the Rev. Eddie Rowland officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and will proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. burial with military honors. Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
