Bernice Hamby Stuart, 95, of Cleveland, TN passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Bernice was a faithful member of Maple Springs Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James O. Stuart; parents, Dewey and Ora Hamby; sister, Eula Mae Hamby; brother, Eugene Hamby; mother and father-in-law, Oren and Ellie Stuart; brother-in-law, Erine Stuart, Nelson Bates; sister-in-law, Florine Hammons.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Susie Stuart; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Gates; grandchildren, Misti Earwood, Rachael Gates, Jeremiah, Jordan and Andrew Stuart, Samatha and Erika; sister, Wilma Bates; sisters-in-law, Josephine Lowe and June Aldridge; several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to her kind caregivers, Bobbie Reagan, Debbie Paul, Martie Floyd, Stephanie Pedergrass and Amanda Kimbro. Special thanks also to Jenny Bryan and the wonderful staff of Hospice of Chattanooga, as well as Joanie, Kelsey, Traci and the sweet caring staff of Hearth Hospice.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 24th in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Webb officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.

Interment will follow the service in Reliance Cemetery at Hiwassee Union Church.
