Obituary

Berniece Kimsey Shamblin, 90, of Etowah, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center. A beloved mother and wife, and a longtime resident of Etowah, she was born in Turtletown and raised in Englewood. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Etowah. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Jefferson Kimsey and Mary Berrong Kimsey; three sisters, Blanche Kimsey Walker, Helen Kimsey and Grace Kimsey Reynolds; and one brother, James Berrong Kimsey. Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 70 years, William Hoyt Shamblin of Etowah; one son and daughter-in-law, William Scott and Ruth Ann Shamblin of Spring City; one grandson, Christopher Scott Shamblin of Knoxville; seven nieces and nephews and their spouses; and several cousins and longtime friends. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Eldridge Cullum and Dr. Robert J. Burns officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Shamblin, Kenny Melton, Steve Sliger, Eddy Perry, Tom Reynolds and Lester Wheeler. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
