Bettina Ruth Baker age 68, of Charlotte, NC died suddenly on October 28, 2016. She was born in Athens, TN and was raised in Etowah where she attended the public schools, graduating from Etowah High School in 1966 as a member of the last graduating class. She attended ETSU where she graduated with a BS degree in environmental science. She worked in Chattanooga for the State Department of Human Services. She moved to Charlotte, NC in 1978 where she worked for the DSS of Mecklenburd County North Carolina as a food stamp fraud investigator until her retirement in 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer Kenneth (E.K.) Baker and Ora Ruth Walls Baker. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law Judith Rose Baker and John H. Pickett of Charlotte, NC; a niece and nephew-in-law Holly Price and Doug Roberson and their children Sarah Beth and Will Roberson of Douglasville, GA; several cousins in McMinn County, Rick Baker of Niota, Robert (Charlcia) Baker of Riceville, Katherine Ann (David) Carroll of Englewood, and Elaine Baker Colson of Etowah; several cousins in GA, Phyllis and Arlon Traylor, Billie Dean Stewart, LeeAnn and Mike Lewman of Acworth, GA, and Ken and Patty Baker of Lawrenceville, GA.
Bettina was a loving, devoted person who spent her life caring for others, especially those in her family whom she loved so very much. She will be greatly missed by her friends and her family.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah, TN with Rev. Ron Allen of Athens, TN officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be forwarded to Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211, where Bettina was a member for many years. A memorial service will be held in Charlotte at a future date.
