Betty K.
Blair
Aug 11, 1934 — Jul 23, 2026
Etowah
Betty Katherine (Miller) Blair, 91, of Etowah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. She is now restored and rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with her husband and love of her life, Broughton Blair.
Betty was born in Athens, Tennessee, as the youngest of two daughters to Clarence Leonard Miller and Dorothy Lilly (Ledford) Miller. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School.
Upon her marriage to Broughton, they built a life and a family in Etowah where they founded Etowah Safety Center and Blair’s Auto Parts. Betty was an active and energetic person whose love for children led her to serve as a teacher and later, Director of Etowah Head Start at Circle Drive and Etowah City School until her retirement.
As a loving and fiercely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Betty’s greatest legacy was her love and dedication to her family. Throughout her life, she gave selflessly to serve as a caretaker – always placing the needs of others before her own. She relished the role of “Grandma” and “Gigi” above all.
Betty’s entire life was shaped and guided by a profound faith. She faithfully kept notes in her Bible, and she faithfully prayed for her family. As a child, she sang in a radio gospel trio alongside her childhood friends Genia Shell Chastain and Shirley Walker Schultz. She would later sing in various other gospel groups and served for decades as Church Treasurer at her home church, Cambria Baptist Church of Etowah.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Broughton Joe Blair and her parents, Clarence L. Miller and Dorothy L. Miller.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Philip Shane Blair and Mary “Mimi” Blair and Joel S. “Jody” Blair and Teri Blair, all of Etowah, TN; 3 grandchildren and spouses, Buffy Blair McDonald, Jessica Blair Goodin and husband, Cody Goodin, and Russ Blair and wife, Savannah Blair; 9 great-grandchildren, Keely McDonald, Jonah McDonald, Landry McDonald, Sadie Goodin, Jake Goodin, Ellie Goodin, Beau Blair, Braxton Blair and Brooks Blair; her beloved sister, Marian Miller Evans; sister-in-law, Nancy Blair (Paul) Coleman; and brother-in-law Van Allen (Debbie) Blair; along with a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and an abundance of friends.
Family and friends will assemble, Monday, July 27, 2026 at McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11:00 a.m. graveside service, with Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating.
Shane Blair, Jody Blair, Russ Blair, Cody Goodin, Jake Goodin, Jonah McDonald, Beau Blair, Braxton Blair and Brooks Blair will serve as pallbearers.
