Betty Jane Hammonds Dolan Plemons, 82, of Athens, passed away, Saturday, February 7, 2015 at her residence. She was a lifetime member of Clay Hill Baptist Church and she spent 10 plus years styling and teaching in the beauty industry. A daughter of the late Hullar and Edith McNally Hammonds, she was preceded in death by her parents, listed above; her first husband, Hubert Eugene Dolan; brothers, Robert (Budji) Hammonds; John Brown, and Norman Hammonds; and great-granddaughter, Cassidy Witt. Survivors include her husband, Lenard Plemons; children and spouses, David Dolan, Jeff Dolan, Teresa and Pete Witt, Larry Plemons, Brenda Brown, and Debbie Gunn; siblings, Vernell (Nell) Hampton, Donald Hammonds, Sue Palmer, Loula May Shaver, Gary Hammonds, and Joyce Belcher; grandchildren, April Smith, Jason Witt, Kristy Dolan, Misti Conley, Nikisha Witt, Kagan Witt; nine great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Sherry Bourque, Bridget Duke, Sharon Martin, Kim Sharpe, and Diane Collins; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Craig Wilcox and Scott Wells officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12th at the funeral home and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 2:00 p.m., committal service. Ricky Hampton, Jason Witt, Kagan Witt, Cody Smith, Dennis Bedwell and Vonnie Dolan will serve as pallbearers. Jonathan Johnson, Dale Hammonds and Danny Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers.
