Betty Joyce Williams, 86, passed away Monday, June 24th, 2024, at TerraBella of Athens.
Betty retired from First Presbyterian Day Care of Etowah after more than 20 years of service. She was fondly known as Miss Betty to generations of children who loved her cooking, especially her macaroni and cheese. She showed her love by caring and cooking for others throughout her life. There was never a time her kitchen was closed or her pantry empty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddy Allen Williams, Sr.; her mother, Natalie Chambers; her father, Roy Chambers; a brother, Doyle Chambers; a son, Eddy Allen Williams, Jr.; and a daughter, Lisa Ann Shaw.
Survivors include her son, James Todd Williams; sister, Helen Denham; grandchildren, Joshua Allen Williams, Rebecca Lynn Kinsey, and Jessica Ann Shaw; great-grandchildren, Antonio Malakai Kinsey, Aleksia Lynn Kinsey, Arianna Giselle Kinsey, Natalie Marie-Ellise Bates and Jameson Kevin-Michael Bates; and many close family and friends.
Betty was a rock for our family, fiercely devoted to her loved ones. Her presence brought comfort and encouraged all of us to reach for our best selves. We are forever grateful for the love and guidance she shared. While our sadness and the void she leaves is immeasurable, we find solace in knowing the impact she had on our lives. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2024 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Erbin Baumgardner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Monday prior to the service.
Entombment will follow the service in McMinn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
To honor her life the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Air Force Aid Society (www.afas.org) in memory of Betty Joyce Williams.
