1916-2011
Bill Roberson, 94, of Etowah, and formerly of Athens, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at his home.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired as bursar at Ohio University of Athens, Ohio. He was a member of Paramethia Lodge No. 25, serving as the secretary for 25 years, and was past president of the Secretary Association of F&AM of Ohio. He was also a member of Royal Arch Masons, Athens Chapter 39, Athens Commandery No. 15 and Wesleyanna United Methodist Church. He earned his bachelor's degree in education from Ohio University, and was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Roberson Evans.
Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Mary Olive Roberson of Etowah; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John William Roberson Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Ben Roberson, all of Etowah; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Wilks, the Rev. Ben Roberson and the Rev. John Roberson officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday in West Union Street Cemetery in Athens Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
