Billy Dan Burnette, 74 of Chattanooga formerly of Etowah, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at his residence. He was a son of the late Noah and Anna Burnette.

Preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jane Walker and Sue Derrick

A resident of Chattanooga most of his life, Dan was active in the softball association for many years. He worked with brother Dean's slow-pitch team, Burnette and Associates, and as the Chattanooga Metro softball commissioner and the local commissioner of the amateur softball association. Dan worked as a draftsman but horses were his passion. He was a horse trainer with traditional walking horses and with the spotted horse classes for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ruppe; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Ginger Burnette, Noah and Christy Burnette; daughter and son-in-law, Elisia and Billy Goins; 5 grandchildren, Kyle Burnette, Krista Burnette, Colby Goins, Clayton Wareand Phillip Taylor; brother, Dean Burnette; sister, Elizabeth Mayfield.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Etowah City Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Bordwine Funeral Home prior to the service with Layspeaker Dennis Bordwine officiating
