Survivors include his wife, Lakisha Gaye Bates of Etowah; two sons, Isiah and Trey Bates both of Etowah; his mother and stepfather, Phyllis Bates and Andy Leslie of Etowah; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Amy and Dennis Simonds of Etowah, and Julie and David Williams of Johnson City; two nephews, Will and Dyson Simonds; two nieces, Kelsey and Hannah Williams; and two special aunts, Marie Malone and Edna Davis.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Gamble and Pastor Mark Hensley officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Goodsprings Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwight Sharpe, Clifton Bailey, David Choat, Pat Ervin, John Moss and Alan Dyke.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
