Brenda Ellen Barnett Gaston, 82, of Etowah, TN passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 surrounded by her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Dillard and Grace Whitaker Barnett; sister, Joan Trew; brother-in-law, James Bryan "Joe" Gaston; sister-in-law, Patricia "Pat" Gaston Workman; husband Charles Gaston; son, Craig Wendell Gaston.

Brenda was a member of Saint Paul's United Methodist church. She worked for over 30 years as the secretary of the McMinn County Board of Education until retiring in 2002 and in 2008 she became a fulltime caretaker of her husband Charles. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Brenda was known as Grano to not only her grandchildren but to the whole community.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Charles Anthony "Tony" and Kajsa Gaston, Traci and Scott Forrest; grandchildren and spouses, Nathan and Ashley Woody, Nicky Woody and Amanda, Gaston Woody, Kyler and Lori Gaston, Cassandra and Zach Webb, Chloe and Ethan Routson, Tavyn Gaston; great-grandchildren, Bella, Bricen, Mason, River, Memphis, Tatum, Ellee, and Abel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Jacquilyn Gaston, Susie Gaston, Kathy JoAnn "Kitti" Gaston, Roy Trew; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thanks to Hearth Hospice and her daily caregivers Louise, Wanda, Heidi and Angie.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27th in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Melissa Smith officiating. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of gathering and remembrance from 12:00 to 1:00 prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Coghill Cemetery.
