It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bruce Aulds, age 64, of Delano, TN passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at his home in Delano.

Bruce, who was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on October 1, 1958, was the son of Charles B. Aulds and the late Mary Nan Aulds.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Nan and his stepmother, Billie Aulds of Cleveland, TN.

Survivors include his partner, Ann; father, Charles "Charlie"; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Andrea of New Brunswick, Canada, Russ and Beckey of Delano, TN; sister and brother-in law, Melanie and Tim of Murfreesboro, TN. Bruce will be missed by his three nieces, Brittany, Sharon, and Lindsey.

Most of his friends know Bruce was an adventurous person; some may not know that he once traveled to Europe to cross-country ski in the Swiss Alps; from there, he hiked through France to hike the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain. Bruce also hiked the Chilkoot Pass, alone, from Dyea, Alaska into British Columbia, Canada. He once rode a motorcycle across the state of Alaska from Anchorage to the North Sea, something that would have been impossible not many years before. He also free-climbed Devils Tower in Wyoming.

Bruce was a master craftsman, once described by his father, Charlie, as "the most talented woodworker I've ever known," Three months before his 21st birthday, in the summer of 1979, Bruce bought a small amount of property in Gee Creek, and immediately began construction of what would become the Gee Creek Wilderness Lodge. He had never been involved in a construction project before. He built the cabin he lived in for decades; the framing, including the roof trusses, he made by hand; every stone on that cabin was carried to the site, and placed by his hands.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and condolences on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
