Carl "Wayne" Martin, 76, of Englewood died Friday, March 16, 2013 at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. His wife, sister, children and several grandchildren were with him. He had battled many illnesses and in his later days made sure his family knew he had made a public profession of faith at Clearwater Baptist Church, and then followed with believers Baptism at Englewood First Baptist Church. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Henry and Edith Ferguson Martin, sister Ruby Bowers &husband Rich, brother, Rev. Claude Martin, brother-in-law Jim Carver, his in laws Larkin and Rossie Lee Gay Casteel, many aunts, uncles, cousins, Casteel in-laws and extended family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 57 years who was his high school sweetheart, Sarah Joyce "Tinker" Casteel Martin, beloved and very loving big sister Eileen Carver, one son and daughter-in-law Marlon "Keith" and Dianne Martin, four daughters who all thought they were his favorite and two sons-in-law; Sheila Ann and Ricky Holden, Karla Gay Masengil, Virginia Lee "Ginger" Martin, Laura Allyson "Ally" and Jim Kirkland. Grandchildren and spousesClint & Michelle Holden, Meridith & Kevin Hammond, Macey & Erik Garkovich,Cody & Michael Martin,Carrie & Rodney Steffa, Cassie & Chris Kile,Caleb & Lacey Martin, Conor, Zyan & Campbell Kirkland,also several great grandchildren,nieces & nephews, Jimmy Bowers, Billie Shadden, Rhonda Walsh, Marty Martin and Randy Martin, several great andgreat great nieces and nephews, special cousins and extended family. He was a 1955 graduate of Englewood High School. He had served in the U.S Army and Army Reserves; he was active Armyduring Hurricane Audrey in June 1957. He worked at Athens Bed Company in Shipping, was working at Beaunit in Etowah when it closed and retired from Oak Ridge Y-12 as an insulator. He was a member of International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers.The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Monday evening in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with funeral to follow at8:00 p.m., Pastor Russ Maples will officiate. The family will assembleat Bordwine at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, and proceed to Zion Hill Cemetery for interment at 11:00 a.m.; Pastor Justin Brownwill officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to Englewood First Baptist Church building fund or the charity or churchof your choice.
