In Loving Memory of Carol "Memaw" Jean Ferguson
Carol Jean Ferguson, born on June 8,1939, of Etowah, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
Carol, aka "Memaw", was known for her big loving heart, compassionate soul, feisty spirit, and most of all, for being the matriarch of her family. She was a successful business owner, a proud patriot of her country, and a loyal supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers (Go Vols!). Memaw enjoyed living on the river and all the peace it brought her, especially when she would get to watch her grandchildren wave at her from their kayaks during the warm season.
Memaw's selfless heart belonged to her family and the people that were fortunate enough to call her "friend". The glue of it all. Every single person knew they were loved without a doubt. She was the biggest supporter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the rock, the peacemaker, and the person they ran to when advice was needed. Whether it was about business or work ethic, relationship goals, financial advice, or just venting about high school drama, Memaw always knew exactly what to say. She never missed a sporting event, and was their biggest cheerleader. Memaw always encouraged everyone to do their very best, and it was certain she would have their back along every step of the way.
Her faith was very important to her. She loved witnessing about her Lord and Savior, and was always willing to have a biblical discussion. She patiently awaited God's direction in every aspect of her life, and her family always knew they were covered and protected by her prayers.
Memaw will be deeply missed by all her beloved friends and family. We lean on feeling her humble presence in the gentle flow of the river, the playful waves of the ocean, or floating on a warm summer breeze. We find peace in knowing that one day, we will meet again. Until then, we will enjoy all of the wonderful memories we've made together. To our forever Mom/Memaw...WE LOVE YOU GREAT BIG!
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, William Dallas "Bill" Ferguson, and her parents, Edna Ruth Roberson and Guy Dodd.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Beasley; sons, Gary (Sandra) Johnson, Guy William (Tracy) Ferguson, and Jim (Mindy) Ferguson; granddaughters, Cayci (Carson) McCracken, Mariah (Mark) Spurling, Faith (Allen) Mincey, and Haleigh Ferguson; grandsons, Guy D. (Courtney) Ferguson, Dallas (Lily) Ferguson, Luke Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, and Colt Ferguson; great grandchildren, Marley, Asa, Nolan, Andrew, Deven (Brooklyn), Logan (Hannah), Koda, Kayden, Caroline, and Remi; as well as many cousins and friends.
