Carolyn Ann Vandiver Gray passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on March 6, 1938, to John Milton Vandiver and Merk Eula Crow Vandiver. Carolyn graduated from Avondale High School in Decatur, GA in 1956 and Tift College in Forsyth, GA in 1960.
In her first marriage, she welcomed her two children, Susan and Glenn. She spent many years teaching young children, a role she truly enjoyed. In 1982, she married Jim Gray, and together they traveled across the country in their RV making memories and enjoying beautiful sights. Eventually, they settled down in the Etowah/Athens area of Tennessee where they spent many wonderful years in their beautiful log cabin — a place that brought them peace, comfort, and happiness. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Etowah, Tennessee. She relocated to Palm Coast, FL in 2019 to have "her ocean view" and enjoy her last years.
Family was always important to Carolyn. She was a grandmother to three grandchildren (Nicholas, Michelle and Lillie) and was proud to see her family grow to include great-grandchildren (August Rose, Bennett, and Oak). She also cared deeply for her nieces and nephews.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Frances; her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by all who knew her. To honor Carolyn's memory, contributions to Christmas Come True (2729 E Moody Blvd #103 Bunnell, FL 32110), and GratitudeAmerica (P.O. Box 16956, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
