Charles E. Casteel, 76, of Etowah, Passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Starr Region Medical Center of Athens.  Charles was a son of the late Loyd and Ellie Sue Buckner Casteel.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Dean Colboch; sister-in-law, Bonnie Casteel; brothers-in-law, B.L. Hipps and Wayne Dyke; niece, Gail Presley; and nephews, Billy R. Casteel, Jr. and Randy White.

He was of the Baptist faith, a United States Army Veteran, and worked at Mecca Pike Auto Repair for 32 years. He enjoyed gardening and sharing vegetables with family and friends, walking everyday with his two dogs and visiting with his friends at the garage.

Charles is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alma Jo Casteel of Etowah; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Travis Bowers; brothers and sister-in-law, Billy R. Casteel and Spencer and Erma Casteel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Kenneth Buckner, Ann and Billy White, Carolyn Hipps, Sharon and Randal Harris and Sheila and Ray Crabtree; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Starr Regional Medical Center of Athens and Hospice of Chattanooga for their kindness and compassion.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 18, 2019 at Conasauga Cemetery with family members and friends serving as pall bearers.

At Mr. Casteel's request there will be no formal visitation held.
