Charles Gaston, 82, of Etowah, TN passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Charles became a Mason in 1971 and was awarded as a 50-year Mason in 2021. He was a 1959 graduate of Etowah High School and retired from CSX Railroad. Charles was a hard worker and enjoyed hunting, fishing, running his farm, and most importantly, his family. He would go above and beyond for all his family, especially the grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Mary Ruth Gaston; brother, James Bryan "Joe" Gaston; sister, Patricia "Pat" Gaston Workman; sister-in-law, Joan Trew.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Brenda Ellen Barnett Gaston; children and spouses, Charles Anthony "Tony" and Kajsa Gaston, Craig Wendell Gaston, Traci and Scott Forrest; grandchildren and spouses, Nathan and Ashley Woody, Nicky Woody and Amanda, Gaston Woody, Kyler and Lori Gaston, Cassandra and Zach Webb, Chloe and Ethan Routson, Tavyn Gaston; great-grandchildren, Bella, Bricen, Mason, River, Memphis, Tatum, Ellee, and Abel; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Jacquilyn Gaston; sister, Susie Gaston; sister-in-law, Kathy JoAnn "Kitti" Gaston; brother-in-law, Roy Trew; special friend, Tommy Hooper; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17th at Coghill Baptist Church (104 County Road 810, Etowah, TN). Friends are invited to join the family for a time of gathering and remembrance from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to this service.
