Obituary

Charles W. Hunt, 76, of Etowah, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at his residence.

A native of Blount County and resident of Etowah for the past 46 years, he was a son of the late James Henry and Laura Scates Hunt. He was a veteran of the US Army, and was a retired conductor with CSX Railroad. He was a member of Everlasting Life Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Hunt, and one sister, Geraldine Hunt.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Bates Hunt of Etowah; one daughter, Diane Hunt of Stuart, Fla.; one step-son, James Roy Moates of Peoria, Ariz.; one step-daughter and spouse, Kim and Dwane Lay of Knoxville; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Lisa Hunt of Alcoa; one sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Johnny Simmerly of Florida; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will assemble at Green Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 for graveside service with the Rev. Dewey Feezell officiating. Jim Caldwell, Bob Buckner, Joe Coleman, Eddie Williams, H.R. Patterson, Eddie Barnett and Harvey Blasingame will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Reese and Watty Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 28th at the funeral home.
