Clarence "Rod" Gore, 67, of Etowah passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the V.A. Hospital in Nashville.
He was a native of West Virginia and a Vietnam Veteran of the US Army. He retired from CSX Railroad and he was the son of the late Mason and Vivian Gore of West Virginia. Proceded in death by 2 brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Gore; and 1 sister, Shirley Patton.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Brenda Gore of Etowah; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Kirk Morgan, Nikki and Jeremiah Dills and Tasha and Ernie Shackelford all of Athens; 6 grandchildren, Makenzie Upton, Luke Morgan, Leo Dills, Karrington Dills, Kara Morgan and Landon Shackelford; 1 sister, Jewell Kimbler; Mother of his 3 daughters, Wanoka Underdown Ballew; many nieces, nephews and very loving extended family; and his beloved dogs, Macey and Oscar.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Bro. Don Billingsley officiating. The interment will follow service in Green Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday, January 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
