Dan "Danny" Henry Brooks, 53 of Athens, TN passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

He graduated from McMinn Central in 1981, and graduated from UT of Chattanooga with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He worked for the State of Tennessee Correctional Department as a counselor for the past 25 years. He was presently working at Bledsoe County, "Pikeville" Correctional Institution.

Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Mary Lou Mason Brooks; maternal grandparents, Harlin "Cooley" and Lorriane Vaughn Hamilton; niece, Alekah

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Denise Kujath Brooks; 3 children, Brian Brison, 29 and wife Amy of White Bluff, TN, Melissa Brooks, 23 of Athens, TN and Michael Brooks, 22 of Athens, TN; grandchildren, Kansas Brison, 3 and Elijah 18 months of White Bluff, TN; parents, Hubert and Betty Hamilton Brooks of Englewood, TN; 2 sisters, Sandra Brooks, Lisa Brooks and Trae Atkins of Englewood, TN; 2 nephews, Cody Elliott of Englewood, TN, Lucas Atkins of Englewood, TN; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Gail Crabtree officiating.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the funeral home and proceed to Mars Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
