Darewin R. Burger, 72, of Etowah, went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, December 24, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. A resident of Etowah, he served 4 years active duty in the United States Air Force and was an active member of North Etowah Baptist Church, where for several years he was the director of the RA's. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and a coach of Little League Baseball. He was retired from General Motors.A son of the late Ernest Eugene and Susan Leona Masingale Burger, he was preceded in death by his parents, listed above.Survivors include his wife, Pat Burger, Etowah, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Carol Burger, Alcoa, TN and Bobby and Debbie Burger, Winder, GA; twin daughters and sons-in-law, Dena and Joe Butler, Stockbridge, GA and Tina and Mike Autry Flowery Branch, GA; Step-daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Brian Masingale, Englewood, TN; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce McElroy, Maryville, TN; one nephew and spouse, Robert and Wanda McElroy, Flower Mound, TX.Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Alcoa, TN, with Layspeaker Tom Leatherwood officiating.The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 26, at Bordwine Funeral Home.
