Obituary

Darrell Ray Daugherty, 76, unexpectedly passed away from this world on Monday, July 4, 2022. Friends and family near and far are extremely saddened by his sudden loss.

He resided in Atlanta, GA from 1981 until 2022. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Ila Maude Daugherty of Englewood, TN; sisters, Hazel (Leonard) Derrick, Sandy Blankenship, and Joyce Crisp; his niece, Cheryl Bowers; and his nephew, Kevin Crisp.

Darrell is survived by his sister, Margie Bowers of Englewood, TN, Faye (Jo Ben) Kincaid of Etowah, TN, and so many wonderful nieces and nephews. He had previously been married for about 20 years and is survived by two daughters. His daughter, April (Jeremy) Scheivelhud; and his grandson, Stephen James, were nearby family members in Atlanta, Georgia.

Darrell loved his family dearly. He had deep family roots in Englewood, Tennessee. Shortly after he graduated from Englewood high school in 1964, he served in the Air National Guard. Later, he went to a business college at University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  While living in Cleveland, TN, he worked for Hardwick Stove and Athens Stove Company. In 1981, he received a promotion to become a freight salesman for Smith Transfer in Atlanta, Georgia. He transplanted his family to the big city and quickly became the #1 regional salesman! Later, he moved on to an entrepreneurship in the freight brokerage business. He co-owned Tri Star Transportation in Kennesaw, Georgia in the 1990's. At his time of death, he had been retired for a while and he was working with some friends in a catering company.

Friends and family of Darrell often share warm memories of him taking them out to restaurants, fun-filled beach trips, and theme parks such as Disney World and Dollywood. We'll always cherish those warm memories of laughter and love! He'll always be remembered as a generous and joyful soul by many. Family and friends will miss him deeply, and find comfort in knowing he is resting in eternal peace with our Lord.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family at Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah, TN on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
