Obituary

David Michael Frost, affectionately known as "Frosty" to his family and friends, 57, of Etowah, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. A lifelong resident of Etowah, he was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Etowah Masonic Lodge 653 and was a lifetime member of the Etowah Rescue Squad and T.A.R.S. Ason of the late James and Kathleen Frost, he was affiliated with the following organizations: Etowah City (Dispatch, Fire and Police), McMinn County Ambulance, East Tennessee EMS, Med Flight Medical Helicopter, Hamilton County EMS, Sevier County EMS, Rural Metro EMS and Med Trans of Tennessee EMS.He was a 1973 graduate of McMinn Central High School, attended Middle Tennessee State University and was a certified EMT, receiving paramedic certification from Chattanooga State Community College. He was certified to teach many EMS certifications, including CPR, PALS and ACLS, and was one of the regional training instructors for Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads.Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Karen Frost of Etowah; one son and his fiancé, Brandon Frost and Dorothy Cook of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Chris Deakin of Etowah; grandchildren, Madison Deakin and Tinley Barrineau; one brother-in-law and his wife, Benny and Susan Thompson of Gallatin; one sister-in-law, Cynthia Briggs; a special niece, Amber Murphy of Etowah; one uncle, Roy and Carol Frost of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Aaron Pierce officiating. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Burial will follow the service in Green Hill Cemetery with firefighters and co-workers serving as pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Etowah Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 151, Etowah, TN 37331; or to the Wesley Memorial Food Pantry, P.O. Box 306, Etowah, TN 37331.
