David Houston Miller, 69, of Riceville, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at his residence. Born Oct. 28, 1942, in Blue Mountain, Miss., he was a son of the late Thomas Miller and Elizabeth Smith Wommack. An ordained Baptist minister, he pastored churches in Tennessee and in the Chicago, Ill., area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Morrow Miller; one son, Timothy Todd Miller; his stepfather, Murray Wommack; and one brother-in-law, Jim Constant. Survivors include his wife, Dee Constant Miller of Riceville; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Scott and Lory Miller of Dyer, Ind.; stepchildren and their spouses, Joe and Stacy Harris of Riceville, John and Janet Harris and Heather and Chris Vincent, all of Athens, and Travis Hughes of Etowah; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Carla Miller of Ripley, Miss., and Terry and Charlene Miller of Blue Mountain, Miss.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Martha Scholle of Booneville, Miss., and Ann and Jimmy Stagner of Blue Mountain, Miss.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Danny Morrow of Chicago, Ill., Ed and Janet Constant of Etowah, Bill and Dianne Constant of Englewood, Harold and Elise Constant of Hudson, Fla., Bren and Richmond Wilson of Riceville, Peggy Chaney of Sweetwater, and Patty Constant of Etowah; two granddaughters, Abigail Miller of Dyer, Ind., and Naomi Vincent of Athens; six grandsons, Kendal Miller of Blue Mountain, Miss., Luke Miller of Dyer, Ind., Jack and Briar Hughes, both of Bremerton, Wash., Brody Hughes of Etowah, and Alexander Vincent of Athens; and very special friends, Kathy and Donald Jennings, Keith and Lisa Henderson and Zeke, Joyce, Zeke Jr. and Lisa Williams. Special thanks to Amedysis nurses, Chris, Christy and Kay for all their care and support. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Luke and Kendal Miller, and nephews, Donnie and Jamie Miller and Joe and John Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Miller, Terry Miller, Jacob Harris, Joshua Harris, Zac Henderson and Ben Henderson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
