David Alan Tuggle, age 52, a native of Etowah, passed on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home in Vonore, Tennessee, surrounded by family.  He succumbed to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) after a two-year battle.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth "Sonny" and Jane Tuggle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shae Crofts Tuggle; bonus-sons, Hunter (Megan) Sutherland and Brandt Sutherland; sister, Jennifer Tuggle Wallace; and niece Meredith Wallace, as well as an aunt, Susie Tallent; and cousins, Rita Tallent, Julie Tallent Wilson, and Michael Tallent.

David graduated from McMinn Central High School and attended the University of Tennessee.  He worked for 26 years as a locomotive engineer for CSX, proudly following in his father's footsteps.  An ardent sports fan, he especially enjoyed NCAA March Madness, University of Tennessee athletics, and the Boston Celtics.

Though he left this world far too soon, David lived a life full of good friends and family.  He was funny, kind-hearted, generous, and loyal. He took pride in his work, and he will be missed desperately by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dennis Bordwine and Ken Parrish speaking. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers are Jake Barnett, Russ Barnett, J. Lloyd Davis, Jerry Fincher, Bob Ludwig, Bud Myers, Ken Parrish, and Johnny Payne.
