Donnie Joyce "Joy" Edgemon, 66 of Englewood, was taken home by the Angels on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Joy was born July 30, 1943 in Athens, Tenn. to the late Donald W. and Hazel Edgemon. Joy grew up in Englewood and graduated from Englewood High School. She attended Business College in Nashville, Tenn. and worked for the Baptist Book Store in Nashville before returning to Englewood in 1964 and starting work at Bowater Southern Paper Corporation in Human Resources. She earned her Bachelors degree in 1998, and retired from Bowater in April 2007. Joy was an active member of the Englewood Methodist Church her entire life. Deep faith in God was part of her daily living. Joy was a loving member of her family and community and will be greatly missed. Joy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dudley and Pat Edgemon of Sterling, Va.; nephew Donnie Edgemon of Sterling, Va.; and niece and husband Elizabeth and Tom Potts of Centerville, Va. Her cousins and numerous friends were also very important to her. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral home with the Rev. Richard Tallent officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10th for the committal service.
