Doris Jordan, 77, wife of Curtis Herman Jordan for fifty-nine years, went home to be with Jesus and those having gone before her on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Doris Jordan took pride in her home and worked hard to create the best life for her family. From making homemade breakfast every morning for her growing family to cooking large meals for her family to enjoy every time they gathered. She supported her husband in all he did including pastoring five churches (Hiwassee Union, Double Springs, West End, Pisgah, and Old Salem). Doris and Herman took six three-week mission trips to Ghana, Africa, always returning with stories about God's work there through the International Mission Board.
Doris was born February 13, 1947 to Lee and Zella White of Grainger County. She grew up with brother Bobby White (deceased) and sisters Linda Jean Capps, Charlotte Hurst, and Sandy White. Her parents later cared for many children, two of whom became family, Barbara Capps and Marvin Williams.
Doris and her husband Herman raised their two children in McMinn County. Their son Kirk, went home to be with Jesus January 2010. Kirk's daughter, Gabby, her husband, Ben Clare, and two children, Finn and Ava reside in McMinn County. Kirk's son, Curtis resides in McMinn County. Kirk's granddaughter, Maddie and her mother, Jennifer Rodriguez live in West Palm Beach. Doris and Herman's daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Randy Harmon, granddaughters, Taylor, and Bailey with husband, Cory Hartman, and great-grandchild Ezra, all live in the Nashville area.
In lieu of flowers, Doris and Herman requested gifts be given in Doris Jordan's memory to The Gideons International, https://www.gideons.org/, another charity Doris and Herman have supported to spread the Word of God worldwide.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with son-in-law, Reverend Randy Harmon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
The interment will follow the service in Green Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ben Clare, Cory Hartman, Anthony Russell, Benjamin Stiles, Lee Pillion, and Chad Reese. Honorary pallbearers are Doris' friends including four dear friends since high school Catherine Jones (deceased), Ann Grove, Carolyn Harville, and Shirley Davidson (deceased).
