Dorothy Lawwill, born on May 29, 1927, in Nippi, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Dorothy led a fulfilling life, marked by her passions for quilting and reading. Her love for travel allowed her to explore the world with her cherished family by her side. She especially enjoyed the delightful visits with Sandy's dog, Miss Sophie, who brought her much joy.
She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Randall VanHoose, alongside her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Theresa Lawwill, and Terry and Angie Lawwill. Dorothy's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ronda King, Tracy Trapp, Randy VanHoose, Cecilia Purdin, Jessica McGinnis, Mickey Lawwill, and Brian Lawwill, as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will fondly remember her love and guidance.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Lawwill, her parents, Levi and Kitty Wilcox, her son, Roger Sluss, and three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 30th in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home, with Rev. Randall VanHoose officiating.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah, Tennessee.
Interment will follow the funeral service in Etowah Cemetery.
Dorothy Lawwill will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she impacted with her unwavering love and compassion.
