Dorothy "Dot" Louise Coleman Perry, 89, went to her heavenly reward on the evening of Friday, September 1, 2023 in her son's home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

A native of Farner, Tennessee, she had lived in Etowah since the age of eight.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert "Gene" Perry; her parents, John and Ora Coleman; brothers, Robert, Edward, and Charles Coleman; sisters, Lucille Nichols, Thelma Trusley, and Annabelle Coleman.

Mrs. Perry is survived by her son, Alan Perry; caregiver and friend, Sean Sisson; nephew and spouse, Mike and Linda Nichols; brother-in-law, Glenn Trusley; sister-in-law, Eva Sue Coleman.

Dot was a member of Coghill Baptist Church for 66 years and served as Vacation Bible School director for approximately 40 years. She was a Sunday School teacher and church clerk for decades. Even after her health declined to the point that she could not attend for the past several years, Dot still loved her church and longed to direct one more VBS.

In her younger years, Dot had been an excellent cook and homemaker, had volunteered to work in her son's elementary school, worked diligently in church and was a wonderful caregiver to her family. She was a generous and caring person who loved to help others. She enjoyed reading and talking with people, traveling, and playing with her grandpuppy Annabelle Lee.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hatcher officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday prior to the service.

The interment will follow the service in Green Hill Cemetery.
