Obituary

Doug "Cookie" Cook, 66, a lifelong resident of Englewood, TN passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Douglas was an avid outdoorsman and a very proud union iron worker. His moto was "if it runs, flies or swims, he's after it." In 1997 he won the trapper of the year award. Doug was appointed by Governor Ned McWherter as the commissioner of the Indian Affairs from 1995-1999. In his spare time, he loved, fishing, hunting, trapping and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill Cook and Frances Watson; bother, Dan Cook; nephew, Ben Cook.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Paulletta Cook; daughter and spouse, Samantha and Eric Hall of Athens, TN; son and spouse, Adam and Amber Cook of Englewood, TN; daughter and spouse, Megan and Martin Moses of Englewood, TN; grandchildren, Abby Cook, Liam Smallin and Bruce Robison.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2023 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Maddox officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday prior to the service.
