Obituary

Dwight Austin Martin, 75, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was a faithful member of Boyd Memorial First Church of God, where he was a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher and filled in to preach occasionally. A member of the American Legion in Decatur, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed, and was loved by all. A son of the late Glenn and Vennie Martin, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Wanda Ruth Martin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Helen Martin and Wayne Martin and Doris Atkins; one sister, Viola Jane Martin; grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife of two years, Linda Lou Martin of Decatur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Dixon and Steve Samples of Decatur, and Donna and Willis Owens of Zion, Ill.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Tonia Martin of Athens, and Brian and Stephanie Martin of Decatur; grandchildren, Candice and Paul Schultz, Carley Dixon, Nicholas Owens, Stephanie Owens, Melia, Katie and Michael Martin, Whitney and Emily Martin and Bridgett, Brandon and Dylan Crisp; great-grandchildren, Grant and Hayden Weber and Arianne Schultz; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Roy Crabtree, Joyce and Carl McLemore and Ann and Frank Waldrop; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Clore officiating. Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday in McMinn Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
