Obituary

Edward Belk, affectionately known as Ed, passed away peacefully at his home in Etowah, Tennessee, on January 2, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on October 31, 1932, Ed was a lifelong resident of Etowah and a devoted craftsman. He dedicated his career to carpentry, beginning his work with Joel Davis before joining Hugh Simpson. Over the years, he contributed to the construction of numerous homes in the Seven Cedars neighborhood. Later, as a self-employed carpenter, he built homes throughout McMinn County, leaving behind a legacy of skilled craftsmanship and dedication to his trade.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson Cap Belk and Cora Sue Williams; his beloved wife, Bobbie Gibson; his brothers, James Belk, Frank Belk, Dave Belk, Rob Belk, and Paul Belk; his sisters, Ruby Dix and Fan Ritchie.

He is survived by his brother, Walter Dan Belk; dear friend, Betty Mull; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his work, Ed found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved tending to his garden, producing an abundance of fresh vegetables each season. An enthusiastic fisherman and a devoted attendee of bluegrass festivals, he cherished the music and camaraderie they brought. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Englewood, TN which he loved to attend before getting ill.

Family and friends will assemble at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Bordwine Funeral Home and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Pastor Justin Brown officiating.

Ed Belk will be remembered for his skilled craftsmanship and his dry sense of humor, wisdom, storytelling and his love to help others. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
