Elaine Ferguson Borden, 79, of Athens, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior, whom she humbly served, Friday, November 20, 2015 after battling Alzheimer's for many years. She was a daughter of the late Charles Ferguson and Anne Ferguson Cochran and a lifelong member of Englewood United Methodist Church; she loved singing in the choir and loved her church family. Elaine earned her B.S. in education from Tennessee Wesleyan College and her Masters from the University of Tennessee. She was a retired teacher from Englewood Elementary School where she had taught for many years.

Preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Jerry DeJuan Borden; grandson, Beau Borden; 2 sisters, Sara "Paddle" Rogers and Billie F. Koppa; and brother, C.B. Ferguson.

Survivors include her 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jerry Miller of Englewood, TN, Connie and T.R. Vincent of Decatur; 2 sons, Michael Borden of Chattanooga and Rodney Borden of Englewood, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Becky Vincent of OK, Courtney Schultz of Chattanooga, Heather and Daniel Atkinson of Athens, Hunter and Mia Borden of Chattanooga, Sydney Miller of Englewood, Dylan Miller of Englewood; great-grandchildren, Brady and Josie Vincent, Harper Sloan Schultz, Spence Schultz and Gracie Atkinson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronny and Joyce Borden, Pat Barnett and Betty Davis; several special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the employees of Wellington Place of Athens for their years of loving care, the staff of NHC for their support and care, Amedysis Hospice, Dr. Craig Riley and Dr. Johnnie Carter.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister David Graybeal and Rev. Misti McCreary officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Sunday prior to the service. The Interment will follow service in McMinn Memory Gardens. Chris Vincent, Dylan Miller, Jerry Miller, Hunter Borden, Daniel Atkinson, and Russ Barnett will serve as pallbearers.
