Elbert Gerald Newman, 86, of Etowah, TN passed away Monday, December 6, 2021.

Preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary Newman; son, William (Bill) Newman; and daughter, Ruth Newman.

Gerald was a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Newman; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Newman, Gerald and Terri Newman, Gene Newman, and Becky Newman; grandchildren and spouses, Becky and Cody Steele, Melissa Rivera, Elizabeth and Josh Hamby, Carrie Newman, Jake Newman, Alexa Newman and Greg Martinez, Alex Newman, Carlie, Angel and Kira Laux, Leyla, Tony and Eric Newman; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandson due in March.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Sneed officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble Friday, December 10 ^th at Mars Hill Cemetery for the 10:00 a.m. committal service.
