Obituary

Emmett Harris, 86, of Etowah, died Friday evening, March 12, 2010 at Etowah Health Care Center. A native of Monroe County and resident of McMinn County for 61 years, he was a son of the late Greeley and Harriett Baker Harris. He attended Carlock United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Mayfield Dairy for 31 years, and retired from Harris Furniture in Cleveland. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Spencer and Homer Harris. Survivors include his wife, Inez Hyde Harris of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Elaine Lemings Egli and spouse Scott Egli of Charleston; several nieces and nephews; many good friends, and the Etowah Health Care Center workers. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Bennie Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 16th and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 2 p.m. committal service. Scott Egli, Edward Reese, Chad Reese, Donald Harris, Rick Hyde and Steve Hyde will serve as pallbearers.
