Evelyn Newman Walker, beloved wife, cherished mother, devoted Nana E, and treasured sister, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on June 25, 1958, Evelyn brought warmth and joy to every life she touched throughout her years.
Evelyn’s journey was marked by a deep love for her family and a gentle, nurturing spirit.
Survivors include her loving husband of almost 30 years, Art Walker. Evelyn took immense pride in her son, Jeremi, and welcomed Jackie Martin as her daughter-in-law, creating a close-knit bond that enriched her family. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Annabeth Martin and Walker Martin, who were truly the lights of her later years. Evelyn’s guidance, wisdom, and boundless affection will remain ever present in their hearts.
Family ties were the cornerstone of Evelyn’s life. She shared a lifetime of memories with her siblings, including her sister Carol Newman Martin; her brothers and spouses Joe and Liz Newman and Eddie and Claudia Newman. Evelyn’s circle of love also reached several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart and will remember her with gratitude.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Gene Newman, and her mother, Bubbles Triplett Newman.
Those who knew Evelyn cherished her kindness, her attentive listening, and her ability to make all feel welcome. Though she has left this earthly life, Evelyn’s legacy of love, devotion, and strength endures in the family and friends who survive her.
A Graveside Service will be held in Evelyn’s honor on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mars Hill Cemetery, all who knew Evelyn and wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend.
Evelyn Walker’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family. Those privileged to have known her will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.
