Obituary

Fannie Mae Mayfield, 88, of Etowah, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 2010 at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home in Etowah. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Dona Williams Key. She was a graduate of Carson Newman College, and she taught for the Etowah School System for 28 years. She was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church and former Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Mayfield; and one brother, Charles Key. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mitzi Mayfield of Sevierville; grandchildren and spouses, Brandon and Heather Mayfield, Brooke and Robert D. Keyes, Oliver Graham and Sarah Mayfield, and Moriah and Kenneth Barthold; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, John W. Key, Jr. of Waco, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Reba Mayfield of Etowah. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24th at North Etowah Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Curtis officiating. Burial will follow the service at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
