Florence Jones Herd, 95 went to Heaven Friday, April 28, 2017. Anative of Piedmont, TN, former resident of Clearwater, FL and resident of Athens, TN for 20 years. She was a daughter of the late Sam and Minnie Wheelock Jones and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Riceville.

Preceded in death by her husband, John E. Herd; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Jasper Jones; and sister, Goldie Cardin.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Larry Herd of Athens, Ronald Herd and wife Judy of Etowah, Donald Herd and wife Judy of Athens; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Freedom Baptist Church on Velma Rd., Athens with Rev. Roy Hogan and Rev. Dennis Leamon officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m., to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church. Entombment will follow the service at McMinn Memory Gardens.
