Florine Stuart Hammons, 89, of Etowah, TN went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Florine was born on August 25, 1932 to the late Oren and Ellie Bates Stuart in Reliance, TN in the beautiful Cherokee National Forest. She retired from Woods Memorial Hospital after 20+ years of service. She loved her church, Hiwassee Union Baptist and its members where she was a lifelong member. She especially enjoyed in her younger years leading the church choir and singing with her family on special occasions.

Florine was a beautiful, thoughtful and generous person who always put others needs before her own. Dedicated to her family she always supported her children in all of their sports and school activities. She also enjoyed gardening, having picnics, quilting, crocheting, traveling, camping and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family. Many great family memories were made during her life. It was her favorite thing to have the entire family over for dinners. In her later years, she was full of life, attending grandchildren's ballgames, going out to eat, spending time with family and riding to the river until a few months before her passing. She especially enjoyed time that she was able to be in the mountains where she grew up and loved so much.

Survivors include her loving and devoted children and their spouses, Wayne and Cathy Hammons, Gary Hammons, Cindy and Mike Ward who was like a son to her; grandchildren, Gary and Sarah Hammons of Powell, TN, Crystal Hammons of Cleveland, TN, Tyler Ward of Etowah, TN, Bradley Ward of Powell, TN, Michael Hammons and Brianna of Benton, TN, Alex Hammons of Dayton, TN, Angel Wallace Hammons of FL, Kelly and Jason Curtis, Jeanie and Grant Thompson; sisters, June and Tom Aldridge of Rockport, TX, Josephine Lowe of Englewood, TN; sisters-in-law, Bernice Stuart of Cleveland, TN, Betty Hammons of Benton, TN; many special cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly and were very good to her.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne B. Hammons; loving son, Mike Hammons and his wife Teresa Hammons; daughter-in-law, Wilma Hammons; parents, Oren and Ellie Stuart; brothers, Jim Stuart and Ernie Stuart; brothers-in-law, Frank Hammons, Abie Hammons, Broughton "Casey" Hammons and Bobby Lowe; sisters-in-law, Zelda Hammons and Gladys Hammons.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hatcher and Rev. Benny Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 31 ^st at the funeral home and proceed to Hiwassee Union Cemetery for the 3:00 p.m. committal service.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
