Frances "Delene" Watson 65, of Etowah, TN went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on August 7, 2012 at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah. Born December 12, 1946, and a native of McMinn County. Preceded in death by her parents, Arlin L. and Dorothy L. Wall Watson; younger brother, Alfred Michael Watson. She was an Alumnus of Goodsprings Elementary, Etowah High School and completed her RN degree at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. Her nursing career included time working at Epperson Hospital, NHC of Athens, Decatur Health Care Nursing Home and she retired from Woods's Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church where she proudly served as a Sunday School Teacher, AWANA teacher and took her vacation yearly so she could teach VBS. She was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed Southern Gospel Music, good company, bargain shopping, good ole southern cooking, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Survived by 2 sons and daughter-in-laws, Gregory D. and Leona M. Watson of Athens, TN and W. Matthew and Rachel Watson of Englewood, TN; Sister, J. Aileen Martin of Athens; Sister-in-law, Amy Beth Watsonof Athens, TN; Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and former husband W.D. Watson of Englewood, TN. Thank you to Dr. Khan for the many years of service, the staff of Woods Memorial Hospital, Dr. Popp, Dr. Winder, Dr. Burroughs and the staff of Caris Healthcare in Athens, TN.
Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012, at New Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Coleman and Preacher Thomas Hazelwood officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble Saturday, August 11, 2012 at New Zion Cemetery for the 10:00 a.m., committal service. Jim and Joe Martin, Rodney Wall, Mark and Heath Davis and Anthony Watson will serve as pallbearers.
