Obituary

Frank Evan Haren, Sr., 84 of Etowah passed away October 18, 2014. Born July 24, 1930 in Etowah to Ed & Sally Haren, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ernestine Haren Magee, Gertrude Haren Bethel and brothers, Ed Haren, Jr. and James "Jimmy" Haren.He was a graduate of Etowah High School Class of 1948 and a 1954 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Haren served two years with the Tennessee National Guard during the years 1950 to 1952. He and Mary Sue Epperson of Athens, were joined in matrimony on Christmas Day, 1951. Upon graduation, the couple returned to Etowah joining his father in the family business, Etowah Heating and Plumbing, which became Haren Construction Company in the mid 1950's. Mr. Haren's company constructed numerous projects throughout the southeast United States during his career. Mr. Haren was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Etowah and was an honorary member of the McMinn County Republican Women being honored for his continuous support.He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Mary Sue Epperson Haren, his sons and spouses, Frank Evan, Jr. and DeLane; J. Skyler and Cassandra and Andrew Haren; eight grandchildren, Frank Evan III and his wife Jennifer, Adrienne and her husband Kyle Rea, Parker, James, John, Ryland, Thomas and Nate Haren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Adrienne Waisman.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Etowah. The body will lie-in-state from 1:00 p.m., to 2:00p.m., prior to the service. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Committal service will follow the funeral service, Thursday, at Green Hill Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contribution gifts be made to The Haren Family Scholarship Endowment for the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech. Gifts may be sent to The Georgia Tech Foundation, Inc. and noted to the memory of Frank E.
